2019 Mazda 3 Trim Levels

The all-new Mazda 3 is an exciting and beautiful sedan that offers peppy performance, a luxury feel, and plenty of great convenience features that make driving fun. In addition to the base model Mazda 3, there are three other trim levels, which are referred to as “packages.” With each, you get additional features both inside and out that enhance the sedan's styling and enrich your driving experience.

Gone are the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trim levels that were used in the past. Now, you'll get the Select, Preferred, and Premium packages that can be added to the base model. The same 2.5-liter Inline 4 engine is available for all four trim levels, but Mazda has said that it will be introducing a new engine model at a later date. All-wheel drive is available on all trim levels.

Here's a closer look at what comes with each 2019 Mazda3 trim level to help you make a better choice for you:

Base Model

With the base Mazda 3 sedan, you get plenty of style and great features. The beautifully designed interior has cloth upholstery and high-quality trim materials. Standard interior features include power windows and locks, front and rear defrost, variable-speed intermittent windshield wipers, auto-off headlights, and a vehicle anti-theft system. Keyless entry and remote trunk release make it easy to operate the car from the touch of your fob.

The infotainment system is displayed on a 7.0-inch screen that is angled to the driver. Other entertainment features include steering wheel-mounted controls, HD radio, an MP3 player, an auxiliary audio input, and wireless cell phone hookups for streaming music and more. You also get a hands-free communications system.

Safety features include basics like air bags, four-wheel disc brakes, stability and traction control, child safety locks, and daytime running lights. You also get a backup camera and brake assistance.

Standard exterior features include 16-inch wheels with all-season tires and power side mirrors.

You get all this and more for a very affordable starting price. However, if you want to get a few more features, you can move up to the next trim level for not much more.

Select Package

With the Select package, you get to enjoy more luxury features on the Mazda 3. Soft, leatherette upholstery replaces the cloth seating, and you get premium synthetic materials for the trim. The steering wheel is also wrapped in leather for a comfortable grip and a nice accent.

Plenty of interior features are added at the Select level, including adaptive cruise control, illuminated vanity mirrors for both the driver and passenger, and dual-zone air conditioning and climate control. You get all the same great entertainment features, but you also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mazda adds the iActivesense safety features to the Mazda 3 at this level, including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and integrated turn signal mirrors.

Outside, you'll get upgrades like performance tires and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Preferred Package

With each successive climb up the ladder, you get all the features from the previous trim levels plus a few extras. Moving up to the Preferred package, you get some nice features that will make the Mazda 3 seem even more sophisticated and luxurious. Some of the additions with the Preferred package include mirror memory, a power driver seat with lumbar support and position memory, and heated front seats.

While you're sitting in those inviting seats, you can also enjoy your music on a whole new level. The Mazda 3 Preferred comes with a premium 12-speaker Bose sound system and satellite radio, giving you a lot more choices for music and a better way to listen to it.

Premium Package

It may seem hard to believe that the Mazda 3 could get more luxurious than it already is without having to pay out your nest egg to own it, but it can and it does. The top trim level for the Mazda 3 is the Premium trim, and it gives you everything you could want in a sedan.

With the Premium package, you get genuine leather seating instead of the leatherette, giving your interior an elegant look. A head's up display is added to the windshield, allowing you to easily monitor your vehicle specs and your infotainment system without having to turn your head. All you need to do is quickly glance over to get the information you want.

LED headlights and tail lights improve your visibility on the road, and a sunroof lets you feel the sun and the wind on your face while you are driving down the road. The headlights are also auto-leveling so that you always see what you need, even if the road is bumpy.

The Premium package offers everything that you can get on the lower trim levels, plus a few exclusives. With this trim level, you'll feel like you're driving like a celebrity.
