Trim Levels of the 2023 Mazda3 Sedan

2023 Mazda3 Sedan in S trim level

Sometimes you already know what car you want, and all that’s left is for you to figure out exactly what trim level you want. Because while you might love the car, if you don’t get the right trim level you might expect some features you’re not getting.

That’s why we came up with this guide highlighting some of the most important features of the various Mazda3 trim levels. That way you know exactly what you’re getting and if it’s the right choice for you before you get behind the wheel of your own Mazda3 Sedan.

2023 Mazda3 Sedan Trim Levels

The Mazda3 Sedan has six different trim levels for you to choose from, and we’ve highlighted each one and some of its key features for you here.

2.5 S

While the 2.5 S is Mazda’s base model package for the Mazda3 Sedan, it comes with so much that it won’t feel like a base model when you get behind the wheel. It comes with radar cruise control with stop-and-go technology, smart braking support, a lane departure warning system, lane-keeping assists, a rearview camera, and a driver attention alert system.

That’s tons of safety features, but there are also tons of technological features with the 2.5 S. These include a 12-volt power outlet, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual USB audio inputs, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

While there are certainly tons of extra features if you go with a higher trim level, there’s also a pretty good chance you’ll be happy with the 2.5 S.

Select

With so many great options already on the 2.5 S, Mazda really has to up its game to make you consider upgrading to the Select. They certainly don’t disappoint.

As soon as you get inside the Mazda3 Sedan Select you can feel the difference with black leatherette replacing the black cloth upholstery throughout. Not only that, but it also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Meanwhile, upgrades to the exterior include side mirrors with integrated turn signals and larger 18” wheels compared to the 16” wheels that come with the 2.5 S.

For added comfort, the single-system air conditioning upgrades to a dual-zone climate control system, and there’s a foldable rear armrest for backseat occupants.

But perhaps the biggest addition to the Select trim level is the blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alerts. The 2.5 S comes with plenty of safety features, but by adding a blind spot monitoring system, you get a significant upgrade with the Select.

Preferred

The Preferred trim level is a step up from the Select, and as such it has everything the Select has and then some. Notable differences between the Select and the Preferred trim levels include a moonroof, adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats.

And while you can still go with a black leatherette interior, there’s also an option for a greige leatherette interior at this trim level. Finally, there are some cosmetic differences to the bumper and grille, giving the Preferred trim level a sleeker and sportier look.

Carbon Edition

The Carbon Edition is a unique trim level. It’s the only trim level that offers its polymetal gray metallic exterior paint color and its red leather interior, and it features multiple other unique exterior features that help it stand out.

The Carbon Edition Mazda3 Sedan comes with everything you can get at the Preferred trim level, but with a unique appearance, there’s no mistaking the two. However, while the exterior features really shine, there’s one other major upgrade you should take note of.

While not every Mazda3 Sedan Carbon Edition comes with an all-wheel drive system, this is the first trim level where it’s an option.

Premium

Mazda must keep upping its game to get you to consider upgrading to the next trim level, and the Premium trim level is another great step in the right direction. It doesn’t come with all the same standard exterior features as the Carbon Edition, but it does come with everything you’d get in the Preferred trim level.

It’s the first Mazda3 trim level where you can only get the all-wheel drive system, and it comes with an advanced full-color windshield projected Active Driving Display. Once you add in the traffic sign recognition technology, it feels like a more technologically advanced vehicle.

This is also the first trim level with an upgraded sound system. And while there’s nothing wrong with the 8-speaker audio system, this Bose 12-speaker audio system is simply better.

Finally, the Premium trim level introduces paddle shifters and a roof shark fin antenna. Neither of them is a real dealbreaker, but they’re nice additions you get with the Premium trim!

2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

If you want the top trim level with all the bells and whistles that Mazda has to offer for the Mazda3 Sedan, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is the way to go. It provides everything you get with the Premium trim level, but then Mazda takes it to the next level by offering even more.

Two big additions available at this trim level are the heated steering wheel and the frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink integration. But while those features are nice, there’s no overlooking that the signature upgrade for the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is the 250-horsepower SkyActive-G Dynamic Pressure Turbo Engine.

There’s nothing wrong with the non-turbo engine, but a jump from 191 to 250 horsepower is one you’ll notice when you push down the pedal. It’s fast, zippy, responsive, and simply a joy to drive.
