There's no doubt that the 2023 MX-5 is a joy to drive. But while there's no denying it's a great car, there are a few different trim levels and packages to pick from. The last thing you want is to think your MX-5 comes with something it doesn't.

To help you make an informed decision we've highlighted each available trim level and package available for the 2023 MX-5 for you here. That way you know exactly what you're getting before you drive off the lot!

2023 MX-5 Trims

Some vehicles have tons of trim levels you have to sort through to find what you want. Not the 2023 MX-5. There are exactly three trim levels for you to consider, which really makes it easier to break everything down and find exactly what you want.

We've highlighted each trim level and some of the key differences between the different models for you here.

Sport

While the Sport is the "base" level 2023 MX-5, that doesn't mean it lacks features. There's a ton to love with the 2023 MX-5 Sport and it all starts with performance. Every 2023 MX-5 uses the same SkyActiv-G 2.0 DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with VVT.

Moreover, each engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Working together they can push the MX-5 from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.7 seconds while pushing 181 horsepower.

Not only is there a lot to love from a performance standpoint, but there are tons of technological features in the 2023 MX-5 Sport too. For audio, there's a 6-speaker system with integrated driver's side headrest speakers, and you pick your tunes by plugging in your phone and connecting to either the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto system.

When you connect your devices it syncs up with the 7" full-color center console display, which is the same size and model you can find in higher trim levels. And with 2 USB audio inputs and a 12-volt power outlet, there's no worry about any of your devices losing their charge when you're out on the road.

Additionally, when you get inside a 2023 MX-5 it feels like a premium vehicle. It has a black cloth interior with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and you get black power side mirrors. Paired with 16" wheels and either a Soul Red Crystal Metallic or Jet Black Mica exterior the 2023 MX-5 looks like a great car.

Finally, Mazda wants you to stay safe when you get behind the wheel of a 2023 MX-5, and that shines through with all the standard safety features. Every 2023 MX-5 comes with blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, a lane departure warning system, a rearview monitor, and smart city brake support.

Club

With so many great features in the MX-5 Sport, Mazda really has to up their game to get you to consider the Club trim level. From small subtle differences to major upgrades, Mazda does it all with the Club.

For starters, while the Club trim level still features the same engine and transmission as the Sport trim level, there are still a few performance upgrades. The Club trim level comes with a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension system with a front shock tower brace, and even Bilstein dampers for the smoothest and most responsive ride possible.

Moreover, one look at the outside of the MX-5 Club will leave you noticing some differences. For starters, the 16" wheels grow an inch to 17" with the Club trim level, and there are five additional exterior color options to pick from. More subtle changes to the exterior include a black rear lip spoiler and a black front air dam.

Once you get inside the vehicle, there are a few more notable changes too. First, if you're connecting an Apple device the Club trim level provides wireless integration. The sound system goes from six speakers to nine, and both the driver and passenger headrests have integrated speakers and subwoofers.

Additionally, both front seats are now heated, and the black cloth interior has gray stitching. Finally, as a subtle upgrade, the upper door trim matches the vehicle's exterior color.

While that's it for additional standard features with the 2023 MX-5 Club, you can get the Brembo/BBS Recaro package at this trim level. This package upgrades the front brakes, the wheels, adds more aerodynamic features, and includes heated Recaro race seats!

Grand Touring

The Grand Touring is the top trim level for the 2023 MX-5 and it comes with everything the Club trim level has and then some. It's the only trim level with an optional automatic transmission, but you can still go with the manual transmission if that's what you want.

Other significant changes include the adaptive front lighting system, auto on/off headlights, and the automatic traffic sign recognition system.

But while those are some of the most significant upgrades, they're far from the only ones. Some more subtle changes include body-colored heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming driver's side mirror, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and black door sill trim with stainless steel inserts.

Additionally, the wheels go from metallic black wheels to dark silver, and you get the choice between a black leather or a terracotta Nappa leather interior. Finally, with the 2023 MX-5 Grand Touring you get rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers and a Mazda Navigation system.
