Mazdas CX-90 was introduced as a completely new nameplate at the start of 2023 and is the largest of Mazdas SUV offerings. With three rows of seats accommodating up to six passengers this stylish newcomer brings utility, design and leading technology together.

The full trim title for the 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus AWD is quite a mouthful but this extra long title is fitting for this fully loaded range topping trim of the 2024 lineup which offers buyers a luxurious, high performance and efficient people carrier.

What's New For 2024?

The CX-90 having debuted onto the North American market in the spring of 2023 continues for the 2024 model year with the features and equipment as first seen on this brand new nameplate.

Powertrain and Performance

The CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus AWD features a brand-new engine design from Mazda. This aluminum alloy block and head e-SKYACTIV-G 3.3L Turbo Inline 6 produces 340 horsepower @ 5,000 - 6,000 rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque @ 2,000 - 4,500 rpm using premium unleaded. 

The first of its kind for Mazda, the CX-90s power unit is a mild hybrid with a 48-volt electrical system powering a stop-start motor that is sandwiched between the engine and the standard automatic transmission. This electric motor adds 16.6 horsepower @ 900 rpm and 113 pound-feet of torque @ 200 rpm and draws power from a lithium battery of 0.33kw capacity. 

The drive is sent through the e-SKYACTIV-Drive 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift to the rear-biased i-ACTIV AWD system. Mazda's Intelligent Drive Select is fitted and offers sport, off-road, and towing modes.

This trim level offers ground clearance of 8.1 inches and a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when activating the above mentioned towing mode which also requires use of a genuine Mazda tow hitch.

Exterior Design

Sporting an all new design built on a new longer, and wider platform than any other Mazda SUV product , the new CX-90 measures 200.8 inches in length and offers a wheelbase of 122.8 inches to accommodate the three rows of seating. 

The large CX-90 wears Mazda's sleek signature Kodo styling well, offering buyers a modern, handsome and sleek SUV.

This range topping trim is on offer with plentiful kit on the outside for all to see.The styling of the CX-90 front fascia shows off with LED headlights with auto on/off with High Beam Control and  LED daytime running lights. Mazda's family styling is clearly seen in the CX-90's mesh front grille in a gloss black finish and the headlight treatment.

The range topping CX-90 gets body-colored wheel arch molding, bright front, side and rear lower body trim and body-colored side molding and at the rear, LED combination tail lights.

High-end features such as adaptive front-lighting and rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers are standard fare.

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus AWD rides on 21-inch x 9.5J aluminum alloy wheels with a machine-cut finish wrapped in  P 275/45 R21 all-season tires.

Buyers get to choose from a collection of standard exterior paint colors that include, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Jet Black Mica, Platinum Quartz Metallic and Sonic Silver Metallic.

Extra cost colors available are Rhodium White Premium, Machine Gray Metallic, Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Artisan Red Premium.

Interior and Cargo Space

Every car enthusiast loves to stand and admire their fancy new vehicle parked in their driveway; however, a vehicle's interior is where most owners spend their time, and to this end, the CX-90 in this top trim offers owners a decidedly upscale and stylish cabin space.

The stylish cabin features an upscale fabric upholstery dashboard with a 12.3 inch fully digital LCD meter display for the driver that includes a speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge. A handy trip computer offers information like the external temperature and a clock display.

An active driving display featuring traffic sign recognition along with steering wheel-mounted audio, phone and cruise controls keeps the driver's attention focused on the road ahead.

All six occupants are accommodated in individual seats, bucket style for the driver and front passenger, as well as the last row passengers with captain's chairs for the middle row.
