Seacoast Science Center

Just down the road in Rye, NH, you’ll find the Seacoast Science Center. You’ll know you’re at the right place because you’ll see the skeletons of a 32-foot humpback whale, two pilot whales and a harbor porpoise waiting for you near the entrance. The Seacoast Science Center has everything you need to not only enjoy a rainy day, but also learn a thing or two along the way. This includes multiple hands-on exhibits like the Indoor Tide Pool Touch Tank, which allows you to hold sea stars, sea urchins, hermit crabs and the other creatures that live along our rocky shore.

Discover Portsmouth Center

If you prefer to stay in Portsmouth but still want to learn a thing or two, we recommend checking out the Discover Portsmouth Center. Sure, it’s a great place for tourists to stop and learn about our wonderful community and its history, but it’s also the perfect place for locals to spend a rainy day. You can never know enough about where you come from, but the Discover Portsmouth Center sure will get you close.

Downtown Portsmouth

This one may be a bit of a cheat, but we can’t help putting the spotlight on our wonderful downtown. Downtown Portsmouth is a great place to spend the day. Even a rainy one. Though you may want an umbrella to get from shop to shop if that’s the case. And speaking of shops, there’s truly something for everyone in Downtown Portsmouth.
