Mazda’s new industrial-inspired “Zinc Green” paint color has just premiered globally. US Mazda MX-5 buyers will be happy to learn that they can now order their favorite two-seater sports car in soft-top and RF models in this new Zinc Green paint option as part of ongoing updates.
Various iterations of green exterior paint have been offered across the three previous MX-5 generations, dating back to 1989, while buyers of the latest fourth-generation MX-5 Miata, introduced back in 2015 as a 2016 model, have missed out on this color choice.
But that is all about to change with the introduction of Zinc Green, Mazda’s thoroughly modern take on the color green.
Fittingly, this new global color debuted at the Karuizawa Fan Meeting, one of the largest gatherings of MX-5s in the world, recently hosted in Karuizawa, Japan.
What is Mazda Zinc Green?
Mazda’s brand new Zinc Green has been developed as a lifestyle color, similar to Mazda’s well-received Polymetal Gray Metallic.
This new Zinc Green Metallic draws inspiration from the color and texture of zinc chromate primer, combining toughness and refinement to create a strong presence while harmonizing seamlessly with both natural landscapes and urban settings.
In low-light conditions, the color’s solid-like texture creates a tight, powerful impression, and in bright light, the delicate metallic sheen of Zinc Green accentuates the MX-5’s sculptural beauty, resulting in a sophisticated and modern overall appearance.
Mazda has incorporated bluish metallic flakes into the color formulation, with optimized particle size and alignment to deliver the desired cool, refined tone.
