2019 Mazda CX-9 Sport

Typically, the Sport trim is a specialty trim level on most models that has enhanced styling and performance for a sportier vibe. For the 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim levels, Sport is the base model, which should tell you where the car maker has put its priorities with this crossover.

The base model Mazda CX-9 comes with a 2.5-liter Inline 4 engine that puts out 227 horsepower for a zippy ride that doesn’t drain your gas budget. It gets an estimated combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and an auto-manual mode. Forward-wheel drive is standard, but you have the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive if you want that extra power.

Standard exterior features on the base model include black bodyside cladding, a chrome grille and chrome tip exhaust, a black rear bumper, a body-colored front bumper, roof rails, a rear lip spoiler, and power-folding turn signal-indicator mirrors.

Inside, you’re going to find comfortable seating for seven on cloth upholstery. The cabin has a high-end feel with a metal-look instrument panel, a leather-look shift knob, a leather steering wheel, and metal-look interior accents. The front seats have multiple points of adjustment, including height adjustment for the driver's seat. The rear seats recline, and the third seat folds flat for easy cargo storage.

The infotainment system is displayed on a 7.0-inch screen, and it provides smart device integration through Mazda Connect. The system includes speed-sensitive volume, steering wheel-mounted controls, and voice-activated radio. Other interior convenience features include power windows with front and rear one-touch down, integrated key remote, an emergency communication system, a proximity control, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and more.

You get advanced safety features with the base model CX-9, such as smart brake support for forward collision mitigation, an engine immobilizer, and electronic stability control with anti-roll. You even get a full spare tire.

The base model Mazda CX-9 comes loaded with attractive features, but you can upgrade to get even more features with the Power Driver Seat with i-Activsense package, which adds features like heated front seats and auto headlights.

2019 Mazda CX-9 Touring

On each of the 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim levels you get everything the previous trim offered plus a bit more. The Touring trim for the Mazda CX-9 comes with the same great powertrain you get on the base model, and it has the optional all-wheel drive, but it adds other features that make driving more fun.

Exterior upgrades include things like heated door mirrors and a power liftgate, which will make some things more convenient. Inside, you get the same great luxury design, but you get a few more features like floor storage, concealed cargo storage, rear armrest storage, and more.

The infotainment system gets an upgrade with a free, three-month trial of satellite radio and second-row LCD monitors. Additional convenience features on the Touring trim include distance pacing cruise control, a power cargo access remote release, a trunk auto-latch, a day-night rearview mirror, garage door transmitter, full floor console, dual-zone temperature control in the front, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

You can upgrade the 2019 Mazda CX-9 Touring trim with the Touring Premium package, which adds a Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers, LED fog lights, a Mazda navigation system, and a power sliding glass moonroof with an interior sunshade.

2019 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring

You get a lot of great upgrades on the Grand Touring level that improve the luxury feel of your ride. The exterior gets an upgrade with a chrome bodyside insert, a chrome rub strip on the rear bumper, wheel well moldings, and a chrome insert for the front bumper.

The interior is upgraded with leather upholstery, front and rear heated seats, heated seat backs for the front, ventilated seats in the front, and more points of adjustment for the seats. You and your passengers will enjoy maximum comfort at the Grand Touring level.

Convenience features also get an upgrade with the Grand Touring, with things like a sunshade, illuminated side visor mirrors in the front, a navigation system with voice activation, memory settings, a power glass tilting and sliding sunroof, and additional USB ports for charging devices. The entertainment system gets the luxury treatment with 12 Bose speakers, a 7.0-inch second-row monitor, and real-time weather display. Head restraints are also added on the second and third rows for added safety.

2019 Mazda CX-9 Signature

On the Signature trim, you get all the luxury features the Mazda CX-9 offers, and the focus is on performance as this trim offers only an all-wheel drive powertrain.

The interior has some subtle refinements, like real aluminum accents and a genuine wood and piano black console insert, and the passenger seats have more points of adjustment, including height. Convenience upgrades include advanced keyless entry and a heated steering wheel. You get the same great entertainment system, backed by an amplifier for improved sound.
