2024 Mazda3 Sedan

M3

The fourth-generation Mazda3 Sedan offers buyers a solid choice in the compact passenger car segment. The Mazda3 continues to impress owners with its sporty drive and impressive build quality.

Let's look at what the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan holds in store for prospective owners.

What's New for 2024?

The 2024 Mazda3 sedan remains as Mazda's sole gasoline-powered sedan offering.

Few changes are noted for the 2024 model year, with minor upgrades to the premium interior and adjustments to the trim levels.

The addition of two new trim options, a Carbon Turbo and the Select Sport package, brings the total number of trim levels to six. The sedan is available in base 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select Sport, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 Carbon Turbo and top-of-the-range 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus trim.

Powering the 2024 Mazda3 sedan lineup are two engine options carried over from the 2023.

Exterior

Mazda's Kodo design philosophy is easily seen in the styling of the 2024 Mazda3 sedan. The cohesive design of the Mazda3 sedan boasts sophisticated bodywork that results in a smooth and polished look.

Body panels blend fluidly with little in the way of unnecessary add-ons to distract from the efficiency of Mazda's styling, allied with Mazda's SKYACTIV technology in materials used and the construction of the body and chassis.

The front of the 2024 Mazda3 features modern LED headlights with a convenient auto on/off function and bright LED daytime running lights, with the rear being treated to LED combination tail lights.

The use of modern and stylish gloss black finishes is seen on the front grill, and rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers are fitted across the trim lineup.

The Mazda3 Sedan boasts standard alloy wheels ranging from 16 inches up to 18 inches wrapped in all-season tires across the lineup.

Seven standard exterior colors are available along with the exclusive Carbon trims: Polymetal Gray Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic.

Interior Design

The Mazda3 stands out from its competitors in this segment, with its interior appointments seemingly from the class above. The Mazda3 sedan's thoughtfully designed cabin sees the use of premium materials and attention to finishing details. The trim lineup guarantees that prospective owners will be buying a sedan that more than meets their expectations when it comes to luxury and creature comforts.

The Mazda3 sedan comfortably seats five passengers, with all seats upholstered as standard in black cloth with the option of white, red or greige leather upholstery choices reserved for the range-topping trims. Adjustable front & rear headrests are found in all seating positions.

Plenty of standard convenience features abound, such as the dual-zone automatic climate control system, plus steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, power door locks with speed-sensitive auto locking, power windows with a one-touch up/down feature and front map lights and cargo lights in the trunk area.

Lower trim levels see standard fitment of an 8.8-inch infotainment display, with the larger, 10.3-inch display available only on the Turbo trim models. A convenient and easy-to-use rotary knob located on the console controls the infotainment functions. In-car seamless communication with smartphones is handled by standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with audio being played through the standard eight-speaker Mazda Harmonics audio system. A 12-speaker Bose stereo system and SiriusXM satellite radio can be specified at an extra cost to buyers.

The luggage carrying ability in the 2024 Mazda3 sedan is made easier with the standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback, and the EPA cargo volume with the rear seats measures 13.2 cubic feet.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2024 Mazda3 features two engines doing duty across the range. The base power unit is a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre SKYACTIV four-cylinder gasoline engine making 191 horsepower @ 6000 revs per minute rpm and 189 pound-feet of torque @4000 rpm while using 87 octane regular unleaded fuel.

Drivers looking for more performance can opt for any of the turbo trim levels to enjoy the significant bump in power that adding a turbo to the 2.5-liter engine offers. A sporty performance-oriented 250 horsepower @ 6500 rpm and 320 pound-feet of torque @ 2500 rpm using 93 octane premium fuel is made by the SKYACTIV-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine.

The lower three trim levels are fitted with front-wheel drive (FWD) as standard, while the Mazda iACTIV AWD (all-wheel drive) system is standard equipment on the mid-grade Carbon Edition and is found on all the turbo trim levels.

The 2024 Mazda3 sedan features the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with manual and sport modes fitted across the range, and Mazda's SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed overdrive transmission is available as an option on FWD models. Fitment of Mazda's G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC+) system is standard across all trims, and the system monitors power distribution to the driven wheels to enhance both grip and cornering in all road conditions.

Technology Features in the 2024 Mazda3

The 2024 Mazda3 does not buck the modern trend of fitting passenger vehicles with needed and useful high-tech features. We live in a connected age, and all are always on the go; access to our smartphones at all times is a must. To keep in touch with the world around us, technology in the Mazda3 allows drivers and passengers alike to enjoy seamless connection to their devices when on the move.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow seamless access to maps, playlists, contacts and compatible apps.

Mazda's Connect service ensures you don't miss a moment, with available in-car Wi-Fi complimentary for three months or up to 2 GB, which allows access to emergency services like automatic 911 dialing and roadside assistance.

Handy features such as remote engine start, check vehicle status reports and more through the MyMazda App, which is complimentary for three years.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The driver and passenger safety is well taken care of, with the Mazda3 sedan awarded the IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2023, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's five-star overall safety rating.

Fitment of dual front airbags, front and rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side-impact air curtains and driver's and front passenger's knee airbags ensures that occupants of the Mazda3 sedan are protected.

Further safety and driver assistance equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, driver attention monitoring and automatic high beams.

All trim levels from the S Select Sport benefit from blindspot monitoring and cross-traffic alert. All Turbo models feature traffic sign recognition and steering-adaptive front lighting.

Top of the range, 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus owners benefit from the 360-degree overhead cam, with rear auto-emergency braking and standard traffic jam assist.
