2018 Mazda3 Trim Level Comparison

2018 Mazda3 in the Sport trim

The Mazda3 is a stylish sedan that also comes in a hatchback option. With the hatchback, the sedan almost looks like a small SUV. The Mazda3 is almost like two vehicles in one! Whichever option you choose, you get an attractive, reliable, and affordable vehicle that gets great gas mileage and will serve you for years to come.

The 2018 Mazda3 also comes in three different trim levels, which gives you options for what kind of features you'll get so that you can be sure you get the perfect configuration. Here's a look at the three 2018 Mazda3 trim levels to help you decide which one is right for you:

2018 Mazda3 Trim Levels

2018 Mazda3 Sport

The Sport is the base trim level of the 2018 Mazda3, and you can get it as a four-door sedan or a four-door hatchback. The sedan starts at $18,095, and the hatchback starts at $19,345. Both come in eight exterior colors.

The standard powertrain on the 2018 Mazda3 Sport includes a 2.0-liter Inline4 engine and a six-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The engine puts out 155 horsepower, and fuel efficiency is estimated at a combined 31 mpg.

Some of the standard exterior features on the Sport trim level include a black grille with chrome accents, body-colored door handles, power remote-folding side mirrors, and body-colored front and rear bumpers. The hatchback comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, but the wheels are only available as an upgrade on the sedan.

Inside, you have a choice of three colors for the Sport trim, and plenty of convenience features are included. The infotainment system includes a seven-inch screen, Bluetooth phone and audio pairing, six speakers, speed-sensitive volume, and voice-activated radio. Smart-device integration is also available through Mazda Connect. Other interior features include a passenger vanity mirror, two USB ports for charging and streaming wireless devices, and remote keyless entry.

Premium cloth upholstery is standard, and the interior is accented with satin chrome trim. The rear bench seat features a 60/40 split for easy access to the trunk or hatch.

The base 2018 Mazda3 trim level offers you plenty of features and great performance to enjoy driving with the whole family, wherever you may need to go.

2018 Mazda3 Touring

The mid-range 2018 Mazda3 is the Touring trim level. The four-door Touring sedan starts at $20,090, and the four-door Touring hatchback starts at $20,840. Both offer the standard, five-seating configuration and come in the same eight exterior colors.

The powertrain is upgraded to a 2.5-liter Inline4 engine that puts out 184 horsepower. The transmission is the same six-speed manual with overdrive. Fuel efficiency is estimated at a combined 29 mpg, which is down slightly from the Sport trim thanks to the more powerful engine.

Some exterior features that are added on this trim level include dark silver alloy wheels, a spoiler, heated side mirrors, turn signal-indicator mirrors, and automatic on/off headlights.

Inside, the Touring upgrades with leatherette seating and heated front seats. The steering wheel and shift knob are wrapped in leather, and there is dual-zone climate control in the front.

Convenience features that are added at this level include a full floor console, automatic temperature control, an illuminated passenger vanity mirror, a valet function for the smart key, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Safety features added at this level include rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.

The Grand Touring trim level of the 2018 Mazda3 offers a bit of luxury without slapping you with a huge price tag. You can stay on budget while still enjoying some of the attractive features you want from more expensive rivals.

2018 Mazda3 Grand Touring

The Grand Touring is the luxury level for the 2018 Mazda3. It comes in the same four-door sedan or hatchback options, and it has the same powertrain as the Touring trim level. However, because of the additional features you get on the Grand Touring trim level, it is a bit more expensive than the Touring trim. The Grand Touring sedan starts at $23,145, and the Grand Touring hatchback starts at $23,895.

Premium exterior features at this trim level include LED fog lights, combination tail lights, and daytime running lights. You also get self-leveling bi-LED headlights and an active driving display unit.

Inside, the seating is upgraded with perforated black leather or parchment-colored leather. The door panels are also trimmed in leatherette. Additional convenience features include a sun shade, a day/night rearview mirror, auto-locking doors, and a sunroof. The infotainment system is upgraded with nine Bose speakers, a window grid antenna, satellite radio, and a radio data system.

Anything that you don't get on the Grand Touring level you can likely get through one of the options packages. For example, the Premium Equipment Packages adds paddle shifters, a heated steering wheel, and a navigation system. But even if you don't invest in any options packages, you'll get plenty of premium features with the Grand Touring, and you'll enjoy an affordable price that will beat many of the Mazda3's rivals.
