2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata Trim Levels

2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata in Grand Touring trim

There are few vehicles as stunning and as quick as the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and they’re huge reasons it’s one of the most popular vehicles in the United States. But just because you settled in on a Miata doesn’t mean you don't have to make any more decisions.

That’s why we developed this comprehensive guide on the Mazda MX-5 trim levels, designed to walk you through everything you need to know to make an informed decision and select the perfect Miata trim for you.

2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata Trim Levels

Just because you know you want a Miata doesn’t mean you know everything you want in it. There are four different trim levels to choose from, and without someone walking you through everything in each one it can all get overwhelming extremely quick.

That’s why we broke down each Mazda MX-5 trim level here and included all of the information you need to know. That way you know exactly what each option has, and you can make an informed decision on exactly what you want.

Sport

It’s the base trim package for the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have tons of standard features for you to love. Mazda is all about safety, and they thoroughly believe you shouldn’t have to pay more to go to a higher trim package to stay safe.

Because of this Mazda includes a litany of standard safety features that include Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Smart City Brake Support, and a Lane Departure Warning safety system. Of course, this is on top of all their airbags and other safety features that Mazda uses to make this vehicle as safe as possible for everyone.

The sport comes with a 7-inch full-color touchscreen built into with Mazda Connect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto – which means your Mazda has all the newest technologies on the market – even at the base trim level.

The steering wheel and shifting knob are leather-wrapped, you have dual USB ports, Mazda Advanced keyless entry, Bluetooth, and so much more. It might be the base package, but Mazda put a ton of work into it so it won’t feel like the base package.

Club

With so much in the Mazda MX-5 Sport it might seem impossible that they upped the game any further – but they did. The Mazda MX-5 Club includes everything from the Sport trim package and then some.

First is the wireless Apple Car Play. While the Sport model has the feature, you have to physically plug in your phone to access it. With the Club, all you need to do is hook up the Bluetooth and your phone, and the car does the rest for you!

You also get an upgraded 9-speaker Bose stereo system with a subwoofer and headrest speakers. But while those are the comfort features Mazda adds to the club, the real perks might be in the performance and aesthetic upgrades.

The Club comes with Bilstein dampers, a front shock tower brace, and even a limited-slip differential! This all leads to a more responsive and more comfortable vehicle, which is a huge perk for a trim level upgrade.

It also includes the ability to upgrade to 17-inch rims, LED daytime running lights, black cloth seats with light gray stitching, and vinyl leather throughout various interior components. While these features don’t come standard with the Club, if you want them you can’t get them at the Sport trim level.

Club with Brembo BBS Recaro Package

The Mazda Club with Brembo BBS Recaro Package is technically the Club trim level, except you get a few extra perks with the Brembo BBS Recaro Package. Because of this, we decided to highlight it separately as a fourth trim option, and that’s what Mazda does as well.

It comes with everything the Club trim level comes with, and you get Brembo front brakes, 17-inch BBS wheels, and heated Recaro sport seats. Both the front and rear brake calipers come painted red too, and this adds another flash of style to your MX-5 Miata.

Grand Touring

Grand Touring is the top Mazda MX-5 trim level for the 2022, and Mazda pulls out all the bells and whistles to give you the best vehicle possible.

They give you even more safety features with the Adaptive Front Lighting System, High Beam Control, and even Traffic Sign Recognition! You also get heated door mirrors, 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated leather seats, and even an auto-dim rearview mirror!

Even with all these outstanding features, it still doesn’t come with everything standard. If you want the Terracotta Nappa leather seats, silver interior accents, automatic climate control, and the navigation system, they’re available at this trim level as an optional upgrade.

2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata New Features

There are not a ton of new features from the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Miata to the 2022 version, but there are two you should be aware of. First, they added a new exterior paint color. It’s a stunning Platinum Quartz Metallic paint option, and it looks phenomenal on the MX-5 Miata.

The second new feature is the Terracotta leather seats that you can add as an upgrade to the Grand Touring MX-5 Miata. It adds another level of style and class to the top trim package, and if you’re looking for the best of the best, it’s really a great choice.

These aren’t groundbreaking changes, but sometimes it’s the little things that really take a vehicle to the next level, and considering how outstanding the MX-5 Miata was to begin with, even these small changes can take it just a notch further.
