Powertrain
The CX-70 features a PHEV, plug-in hybrid powertrain, that produces a total combined output of 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque with the e-SKYACTIV-G 2.5L 4-cylinder gas engine allied with a 68-kilowatt electric motor powered by a 17.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
The standard transmission on the CX-70 PHEV is Mazda's PHEV e-SKYACTIV-Drive 8-speed automatic transmission that offers a manual shift mode. The rear-biased i-Activ AWD all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four corners, and the CX-70 offers a 3,500-pound towing capacity when fitted with a genuine Mazda tow hitch that will automatically activate the standard Towing mode.
The CX-70 PHEV features a Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) system with Sport/Off-road/Towing modes plus Mazda's Kinematic Posture Control.
