2019 Mazda3 driving down a road.

The 2019 Mazda3 has been announced, and while not a lot is known about this great vehicle, we at Seacoast Mazda have captured some of the highlights to share with you! Many of these highlights are about the new Mazda3’s engine, which is expected to be very different from the previous years! Continue reading to find out just how much is changing!

2019 Mazda3 Engine Specifications

The 2019 Mazda3 will be fitted with an excellent Skyactiv-X SPCCI engine, which stands for a Spark Controlled Compression Ignition engine, which will use spark ignition as well as compression ignition to get the best possible fuel/air ratio. That makes it nearly 20% more efficient than the current Skyactiv G engine, and more on par with a Skyactiv D.

However, despite the highly technical nature of this engine, Mazda insists that the Skyactiv-X engine will fall nearer to the Skyactiv-G’s pricing, then the more expensive Skyactiv-D. This means that vehicle prices should not make to large of a leap forward in the future, despite the new and improved technology.

Horsepower and Torque of the 2019 Mazda3

Mazda is predicting that the Skyactiv-X engine will have up to 188 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, which is rather high from a typical 2.0-liter. The current model’s Skyactiv-G, which is also a 2.0-liter, can output up to 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque, which makes it a very strong engine for its class.

Mazda claims that the new Skyactiv-X engine will be up to 30% more efficient than the smaller Skyactiv-G, which can be confirmed later when the engine enters the market more readily.
