Mazda Feature Highlight: New Soul Red Crystal Body Color
Mazda is continuing to expand on its KODO – Soul of Motion design system through the creation of an all-new body color. Soul Red Crystal will make its debut early next year on the upcoming 2017 Mazda CX-5 before being added to other new and existing Mazda models. Developing Soul Red Crystal
Within the purview of its KODO – Soul of Motion design system, Mazda used color as an element of form. Using that belief, Mazda continues to work on developing new colors – such as the upcoming Soul Red Crystal – that highlight beauty and quality of its KODO – Soul of Motion designs. Soul Red Crystal is the first of these new body colors. It is an advanced version of the Soul Red exterior body color that balances vibrant energy and vividness with clear depth and gloss. Soul Red Crystal also boasts 20 percent greater color saturation and 50 percent more depth than the original Soul Red, meaning it has a fresher and more lustrous transparence.
What Makes Soul Red Crystal Special?
Soul Red Crystal is made up of a simple three-layer structure that includes clear, translucent and reflective coats. Its translucent layer features a newly developed and highly saturated red pigment that creates a richer red than ever before. It also features light-absorbing flakes that intensify shaded areas and make it possible to achieve a depth of color that used to require two layers.
What Does the Future Hold?
