Mazda Cooling & Heating Services

Mazda Cooling & Heating Services

There’s nothing worse than getting in the car on a too hot or too cold day, flicking on the AC or the heater, and seeing that it doesn’t work. Now you are suffering in a too hot or too cold car, and have a long drive ahead of you. Thankfully, most shops have the ability to get your heating and air conditioning system fixed up without too much trouble.

But why do these vital services for a car break down at the worst possible times? We can’t answer that one for you, but we do that for most of our customers, a lack of maintenance is often the cause of frequent breakdowns. Maintenance might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to your car, especially since you often focus on changing your oil or checking air pressure in the tires, rather than checking your AC or heater.

We’re going to share some of the best ways to maintain your temperature systems in your car, all while making sure that they don’t break down on the coldest or hottest day of the year. We’ll also share some common problems that we see people bring into our shop.

When Should You Have Your AC Looked At?

If your air conditioning has some of these symptoms, you need to take a look at the system or have it brought in for inspection. For example, no matter what you set the AC too, if it always blows cooler air relative to the outdoor temperature, then you will need to check it. You should be cool when the AC is on, but the air shouldn’t be cool when the heater is turned on.

If the air smells mildewy, moldy, or musty, then you need to take a look at your AC. Not only is this a big problem for your comfort in the car, but those smells are often happening for a reason, and you need to check that out.

Another common problem is when the systems are reversed, where your heater blows cold air and the AC blows hot air. Additionally, another problem is whenever the AC or heater only works whenever the car is in motion, and stops blowing whenever the car stops moving.

What Happens When You Bring It In?

When you bring your car into our shop and have our mechanics take a look at it, we will listen as you explain the problem and then do a full overhaul of the mechanism. We will examine the internal controls, the coolant, the compressor belt, the seals for leaks and the pressure of the cooling system. Finally, we will make sure the pressure is meeting manufacturer specifications and the vent air temperature.

After the evaluation, we will figure out the problem and then get started with your repair and maintenance services. Here are some of our procedures that will get your AC in tip top shape. We can also check on the other heating and cooling services that your car needs done too.

Fixing The Fan Belt

The fan belt connects the engine of the car to the accessories at the front of the car. These include the water pump and the engine fan, which helps to keep the engine cool and the rest of the car cool as well. Over time the vital belts will break or crack, and you will need to replace them. The experts at our shop will be able to replace these belts with quality ones.

Flushing The Coolant

The coolant in your car operates the same way that your air conditioner at home does. The excess heat is taken from the coolant and then is transferred out and lost inside the radiator. This keeps the various parts of your car cool, but over time coolant can become dirty, which will reduce the coolant’s performance. This will cause your car to overheat.

One of the actions we take when it comes to the coolant is to flush it from the system. We will replace the coolant and make sure that your cooling system is 100% working to cool down your car.

Fixing The Hoses

Along with the above mentioned coolant, the hoses are another thing that needs to be repaired and checked regularly. Hoses transfer the coolant and the antifreeze through the cooling system, and much like the coolant they can get damaged. The hoses will eventually dry out and crack, which can prevent the flow of coolant and antifreeze.

Our team of experts will look at your hoses, give them a thorough examination, and replace all the hoses with quality replacements.

Fixing and Flushing The Radiator

Finally, when it comes to the heating of your car, the radiators are heat exchangers that will cool the combustion engine of the car. The radiator helps to circulate the engine coolant, and it also releases a lot of excess heat. Now, if the radiator isn’t working properly, then the heat has nowhere to go and will remain inside the car, damaging the engine.

The radiator can also become dirty as well, which will also damage it and prevent it from working properly. In that case, you need to have your radiator flushed and cleaned, and also serviced to catch problems before they can get out of control.

Check Everything For Temperature

If you live in an area where summers are hot and winters are cold, then you need to make sure that your car is ready for the change in temperature. Make sure to check all the systems of your car, not just the AC and the heater, but also the tires, fluids, wiper blades, and all of the lights and signals.

The more that you check as the temperature changes, the less of a risk you face from temperature related problems. Then you aren’t spending a ton of money on repairs or dealing with problems that can grow out of control if not looked at. No one wants that after all!
