2023 Mazda CX-9 Trims & Packages

2023 Mazda CX-9

Sometimes you already know what vehicle you want and all that’s left is for you to figure out what trim level and package you want to go with it.

We completely understand, and that’s why we came up with this guide that’ll walk you through everything you need to know about what’s available for the 2023 Mazda CX-9. But spoiler alert, it’s a pretty great vehicle.

2023 Mazda CX-9 Trim Levels

There’s no doubt that the CX-9 is a great vehicle no matter what trim level you go with. But you don’t want to expect a feature and not end up with it simply because you picked the wrong trim.

To help you make your decision and get the right trim level the first time we’ve highlighted each of the five trim levels for you here and broke down some of the key differences between each trim for you here.

Touring

While the Touring trim level is the base model trim level for the 2023 Mazda CX-9, it still comes with tons of standard features. Chief among those standard features are the safety options.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic assists, a lane departure warning system, smart braking support with a collision warning system, and even radar cruise control with stop-and-go technology comes standard.

The interior has tons of great features too, and those include a three-zone automatic climate control system, an optional rear power liftgate, and even a power sliding glass moonroof.

Other luxury technological features we’ll sure you’ll love include 3-way heated front seats, front USB ports, a wireless charger, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even a 12-volt outlet for different electronic devices. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Touring is no standard base model vehicle, it’s luxury and style without needing to pay more to get it.

Touring Plus

With so many great features with the Touring trim level, Mazda really must up its game to get you to consider upgrading. With the Touring Plus, they don’t disappoint. The Touring Plus comes with all the great features you get with the Touring, but then they up things even further with more features.

Comfort features include a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, 2nd row USB ports, ventilated front seats, heated side mirrors, and the option to get a seven-person seating capacity instead of the standard six-person seating capacity with the Touring.

While none of these features are potential deal breakers, they can make your next road trip a lot easier, and if you do need that seventh seat this is the first trim level where you can get it.

Carbon Edition

With Mazda, the Carbon Edition is all about a signature appearance you can’t get with any other trim level. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Carbon Edition is the only trim level that allows you to get the Polymetal Gray Metallic exterior and a red leather interior, and they are the only color options with this trim level.

It also comes with chrome front, side, and rear lower body molding, but it’s not all about the appearance of the Carbon Edition. It only has a 6-person seating package, and you lose the second-row USB outlets, but outside of that it comes with everything you can get in the Touring Plus and then some.

New features available at this trim level and higher include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, an upgraded Bose Surround Sound System, an adaptive front lighting system, a windshield wiper deicer, automatic power folding side mirrors, paddle shifters, and overhead LED accent lighting to highlight various features of the Carbon Edition.

But perhaps the most noticeable difference between the Touring Plus and the Carbon Edition when you get inside the vehicle is the upgraded LCD Meter display. While both the Touring and the Touring Plus have a 4.6” LCD Meter Display, the Carbon Edition is the first trim level that upgrades that size to 7”.

Additional safety features with this trim level include smart braking support while the vehicle is in reverse, a driver attention alert system, and front and rear parking sensors.

Grand Touring

The Grand Touring doesn’t come with the red leather interior or Polymetal Gray Metallic exterior or some of the interior trim touches, but from there it has everything the Carbon Edition and the Touring Plus have, and then some. The second-row USB ports are back, and you can get a seven-seat configuration with this trim level.

You also get a Mazda Navigation system, an Active Driving Display with traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree view monitor. It comes with a few more features than the Carbon Edition, but it does have a completely different look.

You really can’t go wrong with either trim level here, just go with whichever one you like more!

Signature

As the top trim level for the 2023 Mazda CX-9, there are not many features you can find here. It comes with everything the Grand Touring trim level has, but then Mazda installs a few more features that really put this trim level over the top.

Instead of standard leather like you can find in other trim levels, the Signature trim level uses an upgraded Nappa leather with either a deep chestnut or parchment color for you to pick from. The seats also have quilting and piping seat accents that you can’t find with other trim levels.

For an added luxurious feel the interior uses Santos rosewood inlays for the shifter and door switchgear. The exterior uses larger exhaust outlet pipes, a front grille with a titanium-gray metallic finish, and LED grille accent lighting.

The 2023 CX-9 Signature is all about luxury, and it feels that way through and through.
