This car engine debuted in the 2019 Mazda 3, and the SkyActiv X Engine merges both the benefits and design of the diesel and gasoline engines. The spark ignition process is used whenever conditions are less-than-ideal, and otherwise you can use the compression ignition.

Superchargers

Finally, the SkyActiv X engine uses a supercharger to move enough air into the engine to keep up a high RPM. The SkyActiv X engine also uses a braking regeneration system to lighten the engine load. The excess braking energy is then stored in a capacitor, and that excess energy is then cycled into the headlights, radio, and other minor functions of the car.
