2023 Mazda CX-50 Trims, Configurations, and Specs

2023 Mazda CX-50

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is an outstanding compact SUV with top-of-the-line features throughout. But if you like the CX-50, you still need to figure out what trim package you want.

Each one comes with its own unique features, making picking the right one an important decision. You don’t want to spend more than you need to, but you also don’t want to miss out on features you’ll love.

It’s an important decision, which is why we wanted to highlight each of the trim packages and what they offer for you here.

2023 Mazda CX-50 Trim Levels

With nine different trim levels to pick from you get the exact CX-50 you want without overspending for features you don’t care about. It’s a lot of trim packages, but that puts you in control of what you are and aren’t getting.

2.5 S

While the 2023 Mazda CX-50 2.5 S is technically the base model CX-50, with all the features it comes with it won’t feel like it. For starters, it has an all-wheel-drive drivetrain that helps you tackle any terrain.

From there, you get all the safety features that Mazda offers, including their radar cruise control with automatic stop and go and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts.

You also get top-of-the-line technological features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an audio input jack, Bluetooth, and dual front USB ports. And when you want to make some adjustments while you’re driving the steering wheel-mounted audio, phone, and cruise control buttons make it easier than ever.

The 2.5 S is the base model, but it has tons of features you’ll love using.

2.5 S Select

With everything that the 2.5 S offers Mazda really has to up their game to get you to upgrade. They don’t disappoint. The first difference between the 2.5 S and the 2.5 S Select is the interior. While the 2.5 S has a black cloth interior, the 2.5 S Select has a black leatherette with a gray trim interior.

They pair that with a leather-wrapped gear selector and steering wheel for a more premium-feeling interior. You also get three new color options to choose from, a white chill pearl, a machine gray metallic, and a soul red crystal metallic.

But it’s not all about appearances. The infotainment screen goes from 8.8” to 10.25, and you get dual USB charging ports for the rear to go with the two in the front.

Finally, you get rear privacy glass and a dual-zone climate control system for a little more comfort for everyone while you’re driving around.

2.5 S Preferred

The 2.5 S Preferred comes with everything the 2.5 S Select has and then some. It’s the first model with a powered driver’s seat for seat adjustments, but the passenger seat still has manual adjustments. But you do get heated front seats and dual heated side mirrors.

Add in the power liftgate that you can adjust for different heights in the rear, and the 2.5 S Preferred has some nice features that are worth considering.

2.5 S Preferred Plus

There are not many differences between the 2.5 S Preferred and the 2.5 S Preferred Plus. The most notable difference is that the 2.5 S Preferred Plus comes with a panoramic moonroof that you can control with one-touch controls.

If you want a moon roof on your 2023 CX-50, you’ll need a 2.5 S Preferred Plus trim level or higher.

2.5 S Premium

The 2.5 S Premium comes with everything you get in the 2.5 S Preferred Plus but then adds a ton more features for you to love. It’s the first CX-50 with a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, giving it a notably different exterior appearance.

It also upgrades the interior from leatherette to black leather with brown trim. The passenger seat now has power seat adjustments too, and the driver’s seat has a 2-position memory feature that automatically adjusts depending on the key you’re using.

Moreover, the rearview mirror now auto-dims to match the time of day, and finally, the stereo system goes from an 8-speaker system to a 12-speaker sound system.

2.5 S Premium Plus

The 2.5 S Premium Plus is as good as it gets without upgrading the engine. The side mirrors now have an automatic power-folding system, you get a windshield projected active driving display, and you get ventilated front seats. It’s also the only CX-50 with a non-turbocharged engine that has 20” tires.

2.5 Turbo

If you want the 2.5L twin-turbo engine the 2.5 turbo is your first chance. The engine jumps the torque to 3,200 ft-lb at 2,500 rpm, and it ups the towing capacity to 3,500 pounds. Because of this it has a towing mode you can use while driving.

You do get adaptive front lights, a larger exhaust system, paddle shifters, a terracotta leather interior, and two new color options, but you do lose some of the features of the 2.5 S Premium Plus.

You don’t get the power mirrors, the shark fin antenna, ventilated front seats, the windshield projected driving display, or the upgraded sound system. But with the more powerful engine, you’ll still feel like you’re driving an upgraded car.

2.5 Turbo Premium

The 2.5 Turbo Premium is pretty much the 2.5 S Premium Plus, but with the turbocharged engine. The power side mirrors come back, as does the shark fin antenna, ventilated front seats, the windshield projected driving display, and the upgraded stereo system all come back.

You also get a heated steering wheel to help you get through those extremely cold days while you’re driving.

2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

If you’re looking for the full-loaded CX-50, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is as good as it gets. Not only does it have the twin-turbo 2.5L engine but it has other features that you can’t get with any other trim package.

These features include an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, a frameless rearview mirror, a wireless phone charger, traffic sign recognition, and even heated rear seats. Finally, it includes Mazda’s navigation system.

It’s everything Mazda could possibly put in a vehicle, and it feels like it’s top of the line and luxurious from top to bottom.
