Mazda recently announced that by 2023 they will be adding 3 new SUVs to their already impressive line-up. They are the CX-50, the CX-70 and CX-90. The CX-50 will be the first to make its way into a Mazda dealership showroom near you. Mazda will be able to produce the CX-50 so quickly because the automaker will use the same platform on which they make the CX-30 to produce it. Mazda said they will reveal the new CX-50 as early as next month. Sources say the new CX-50 will be built at the Mazda Huntsville, Alabama factory. It is anticipated that the CX-50 will enter production as early as January.

What To Expect

Insiders say the new CX-50 will probably be a mid size crossover much like the current Mazda CX-5. They say the new CX-50 is expected to have some black body cladding and Mazda will sell it alongside the CX-5. It is expected that the starting price of the CX-50 when it gets to the Mazda dealership showrooms will likely be just a few thousand dollars more than the current starting price of the CX-5. It is believed buyers can expect to see the new Mazda CX-50 make its debut in November of 2022. That means some lucky buyers will be able to get a newly released Mazda CX-50 for Christmas 2022.

Employing A New Longitudinal Architecture

Mazda will use their new six-cylinder engine longitudinal architecture to build both the CX-70 and the CX-90. Both vehicles are expected to arrive early in 2022. No specific information related to the automotive design, bumper, grille or even headlamp of the CX-70 and CX-90 has been revealed to the general public at this point. The only clue is they will probably have inline six-cylinder engines based on the longitudinal architecture on which their construction is based. Sources say the new vehicles will have plug-in-hybrid options.

Fulfilling Luxury Automobile Aspirations

Mazda may be taking its luxury automobile aspirations to another level with the introduction of these three new SUVs. Two of the new vehicles are going to use Mazda’s long-awaited longitudinal architecture which features an inline-six-cylinder engine, as well as plug-in-hybrid options. Both the two row CX-70 and the three-row CX-90 will be built based on Mazda’s new architecture and many anticipate these vehicles will be more luxurious than previous models. Combine that with Mazda vehicles stellar reputation for exceptional performance and these new vehicles could be exceptional indeed.

A Choice Of Engines

Although Mazda has confirmed that the CX-70 and CX-90 will have wide body designs, the automaker says buyers can choose whether to have them equipped with a turbocharged inline-six engine or an inline-four engine working with the new plug-in-hybrid powertrain. Like all other Mazda CX models, the CX-50, CX-70 and CX-90 will have all-wheel drive as standard. Both the CX-50 and the CX-70 will be introduced as new models that will be added to the already exceptional Mazda line. The CX-90, however, will take the place of the Mazda CX-9.

2021 Mazda Miata RF

Since its introduction in 1989, more than a million Mazda Miata RFs have been bought worldwide. And it continues to be very popular today. Mazda Miata enthusiasts wait with baited breath for the 2022 version of the Miata to hit the showroom floor. There are several reasons why the Mazda Miata is such a hot seller with a segment of the car buying public. Some things buyers like about the Mazda Miata are it’s fun to drive, it is very reliable, it has amazing handling and it is aesthetically pleasing.

Fun To Drive

Driving a Miata RF is a thrilling experience. ‘Zoom, zoom, zoom’ is more than a catchy tagline, it’s the way the Miata responds when you step on the accelerator. The Miata’s intake’s unique design releases more horsepower and torque and creates an unforgettable sound. This lightweight sports car has superb vehicle dynamics. Its firm chassis helps this roadster engage every atom of energy to unleash a performance edge that will put a permanent smile on your face. Just time your shifting and let the engine work its magic and you will have lots of fun driving your Miata.

A Very Reliable Vehicle

The Mazda Miata is well above average in reliability. It requires less frequent and less severe repairs than most vehicles in its class. Its low maintenance and ownership costs puts it among the most reliable vehicles available today. The Mazda Miata gets unscheduled repairs an average of .3 times each year. Plus, the probability it will need a major repair is less than 10%. That means 90% of the time you take your Miata into the shop it is to get an oil change or to have some other routine maintenance performed. You can rely on your Miata spending most of its time going ‘zoom, zoom, zoom.’

Amazing Handling

One of the most common reasons people buy a Mazda Miata is for its amazing handling. An energetic engine, effortless shifting, precise, responsive steering and its stirring acceleration lets the Mazda Miata RF go from standing still to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. Its smooth, linear power delivery and taut suspension lets it rip around tight curves and navigate bumpy roadways with ease. The Miata’s set-up with the weight of the engine behind the front axle provides optimum balance with the center of gravity more towards the middle of the vehicle. This makes handling precise and predictable at any pace and on any surface. Its light, tactile steering changes direction promptly and its balanced chassis provides great driving feel.

An Aesthetically Pleasing Appearance

The adventurous evolution of progressive style embodied by the iconic Mazda Miata RF roadster’s aesthetically pleasing appearance represents more than just a hardtop or a convertible. In under 15 seconds it transforms its appearance when its retractable roof quietly slips away leaving a poised fastback profile featuring sinuous lines. It creates a polished, charismatic, athletic look that’s beyond mechanical engineering. It’s a breathtaking piece of art whether standing still or in motion.

Mazda CX-5 Grand Reserve

There are luxury upgrades, then there are Mazda luxury upgrades. The difference between upgraded trim levels with a Mazda and other brands is simple, Mazda includes more with their base models, so they need to go above and beyond with upgrades.

But what does the base Mazda CX-5 Sport offer, and how do they improve upon it with the CX-5 Grand Reserve? We’ll break down all the impressive luxury features here.

Snapshot of the Mazda CX-5

If you’re looking for a luxury crossover SUV the manufacturer jam packed with safety features, Mazda is the way to go. Every Mazda CX-5 comes with tons of standard safety features.

These include:

  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Mazda radar cruise control with stop & go
  • Dual front airbags, front side-impact airbags, and side-impact air cushions
  • ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist
  • Lane departure warning system and lane keep assist
  • Rearview camera
  • And more!

The difference between Mazda and many other brands is that they include all their safety features standard, even on their base model trim package. Because while you can upgrade on luxury, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice on safety because of the price.

The CX-5 itself is a smaller crossover SUV with enough seating for five and entertainment options for the entire family. Integrated audio platforms include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and traditional Bluetooth connectivity – all of which lets you connect your tunes with ease.

Comfort, safety, and performance all come standard with the CX-5.

The Grand Reserve Advantage

With so many great options coming standard, how does Mazda ever get anyone to upgrade to the next trim package? By taking things to the next level of course.

The CX-5 Grand Reserve has tons of additional features that help to justify the higher cost. For starters, you get the impressive SKYACTIV® 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine that pushes out 320-lb ft torque and 221 horsepower.

The Grand Reserve also comes standard with iACTIV AWD®, has LED daytime running lights, fog lights, and combination tail lights, all while incorporating an adaptive front-lighting system.

In addition to the more stylish and longer-lasting lights, the exterior also boasts an upgraded 19 x 7-wheel package with a brilliant silver finish. But while all those upgrades are nice, they’re fairly standard.

Mazda takes it to the next level with a rear power liftgate with a programmable height adjustment, a one-touch power-sliding glass moonroof, heated power side mirrors, and heated front seats.

Additionally, this trim package offers dual rear USB charging ports in addition to the dual USB charging ports upfront and an upgraded 10-speaker surround system.

While all those features are nice, they’re only the tip of the iceberg compared to everything that Mazda upgraded for this higher trim package.

There’s luxury, then there’s Mazda CX-5 Grand Reserve luxury.

Inside a Mazda car with Mazda Co-Pilot

Mazda has long earned a reputation for being a leader in designing and engineering cars that are safe, feature cutting-edge technologies and are fun to drive. Today, as more automakers are moving towards creating autonomous automobiles, Mazda has again taken the lead with a brand new automotive technology called the Mazda Co-Pilot Concept. This is an emerging technology using autonomous driving features to monitor the driver as well as the vehicle’s behavior. Should the driver become incapacitated, the co-pilot can take control, steer the vehicle to a safe location, then call emergency services.

Mazda Co-Pilot: Currently In Developmentt

The Mazda Co-Pilot concept is still being developed. Mazda has said they are already working on the more advanced Co-Pilot Concept2 that will become available as a standard feature on all types of Mazda automobiles by 2025. It will help to make any type of Mazda that you drive even safer, yet still be fun to drive. Co-pilot will be seamlessly integrated into your Mazda and you will not even notice it’s there unless you or your vehicle are having a problem and need help from the technology. And when you do, it will kick in automatically and can save your life by getting you the support you need to safely get to your destination.

Autonomy, Not Automation

Automobile enthusiasts love the cars, trucks and SUVs Mazda engineers designs and builds because they love to hear the roar of their engines and feel the vibration of the road beneath their tires. They are not looking to get a hands-off, chauffeured ride. Well, the Mazda Co-Pilot concept isn’t introducing fully automated driving. Instead, the technology will enable you to continue to enjoy the thrill of hitting the open road as well as the peace of mind autonomous technologies afford you. The co-pilot technology is intended to help you navigate your way through emergency situations. Mazda’s co-pilot is a “human-centered” autonomous solution that keeps the fun in driving while helping to keep all the roads much safer for everyone.

An Accident-Free Society

Co-pilot is among Mazda’s latest human-oriented safety technologies designed to create an accident-free society. Once deployed, it detects sudden changes in the driver’s physical condition and switches to autonomous driving. It’s an early step in Mazda’s introduction of their initiative called Large Products from 2022 and signals Mazda’s progress in developing advanced technologies to provide connected services as well as software technologies that will form the foundation of the company’s next-generation mobility services that help make the roads accident-free.

Mazda Co-Pilot Processes Data Quickly

Mazda’s co-pilot system uses their new, innovative next-generation Electric/Electronic Architecture enabling it to quickly process data and instantly take control of the vehicle when necessary. Plus, it utilizes a next-generation in-vehicle communication system jointly developed by five Japanese OEM companies. It’s designed to help to give safer, stress-free connected services. Mazda’s co-pilot system is part of their new product and technology development initiative called ‘Sustainable Zoom Zoom 2030’. The Seacoast Mazda staff can answer any questions you have about the co-pilot system.

The 2021 Mazda CX-9 has a lot going for it. It’s three rows, comes with responsive performance, the latest tech, and a nice looking exterior and interior. However, the Carbon Edition comes with a few more bells and whistles that are worth talking about.

The Carbon Edition is mostly cosmetic, adding to the touring trim already present on the Mazda CX-9 with new styling cues. Let’s take a look at some of these cosmetic changes and see which ones are the best for you.

The Exterior Trim

2021 Mazda3 sedan compared to Mazda3 hatchback.

The Mazda 3 comes in both hatchback and sedan varieties, and you need to figure out the differences whenever you select your version of the car. What is the difference between The Mazda3 sedan vs. hatchback anyway?

A sedan is defined as a ‘passenger car with a separate trunk, so if your car can fit four people and has a trunk that is separate from the main area, it is a sedan. Sedans offer less cargo room, but do have the advantage of being slimmer and more compact when compared to Hatchbacks

A Hatchback has either two or four doors and then a flip up tailgate that would lead to a cargo area. Lifting the cargo area was a lot like lifting a hatch in the early days, so the name was born from that comparison. If your SUV has a separate trunk, then it is a sedan. If the trunk is part of the car, it is a hatchback. Here are the top five differences and selling points between the two types of vehicles.

1. The Cargo Space

The hatchback body can carry larger pieces of gear and cargo, and most of the time you can fold down the passenger side seats to make even more room. They might even have a pull out tray in the bottom of the floor for your valuables and other items. Hatchbacks have better cargo space and will always be able to carry larger items.

A sedan’s trunk size is limited by the height of the rear package tray, and you will get less storage space inside of the sedan’s trunk than you would in a hatchback. It’s perfect if you plan to use the sedan to just carry minimal items.

2. The Differences Between Prices

When it comes to Mazda3 sedan vs. hatchback prices, a sedan is often less expensive than a hatchback, although you are often paying for less features. A hatchback might have Apple CarPlay, a climate system, and heated rear seats for the more expensive price.

3. The Shape of the Car

Sedans are often divided into three sections, with the front end of the car, the back end, and the trunk. This results in a smaller and slimmer car overall. While a Mazda3 hatchback only has two sections to result in a much bigger and wider car.

4. Better Window Visibility

Hatchbacks have wider windows in their rear, giving you much better visibility as the driver. Sedans generally have much smaller windows, but don’t require an extra window wiper to be maintained and looked after.

5. Extra Security

Finally, the Mazda3 sedan has extra security because no one can see inside of your trunk. You can easily put away valuables that you do not want anyone to see, and the truck is harder to break into. Because the Mazda3 hatchback is connected to your car, there’s less space to hide your stuff and it is easier for thieves to break in.

Still, no matter what type of car you purchase, you will certainly find one that suits your needs, and that’s the true benefit of getting a Mazda 3.

This car engine debuted in the 2019 Mazda 3, and the SkyActiv X Engine merges both the benefits and design of the diesel and gasoline engines. If you want to see the benefits of both the diesel and gasoline energies, all with a knocking system. Normally whenever you hear knocking underneath your engine, you should feel concern and perhaps pop the hood to see what’s underneath.

However, the SkyActiv X Engine is designed around knocking. Typically whenever your engine knocks; the mixture of air and fuel is triggered when it isn’t supposed to. However, this engine is designed to harness the pressure of that without damaging your engine or forcing you to hear knocking over and over.

The Benefits of Combustion Ignition

Diesel engines run like this, causing a controlled explosion inside the combustion chamber to make the engine run. This takes advantage of the movement of the cylinders of the engine, and makes diesel engines very efficient. However, the combustion ignition causes the diesel engine to burn slower than gas, which is what SkyActiv X tries to counter.

The combustion ignition of a diesel engine is merged with the high-RPM showing of a gas engine to give the best of both worlds. No matter where you are in the RPM range, the engine pulls strongly and you get a smoother ride.

The Spark Plug

Gas engines need a spark plug to get the process going, and diesel-gas hybrids are still reliant on spark plugs. The SkyActiv X engine uses spark plugs like a switch, helping to make the engine go much faster and run more efficiently. The engine can switch back and forth between the spark controlled compression ignition and then using the spark plug to kick off the process.

The spark ignition process is used whenever conditions are less-than-ideal, and otherwise you can use the compression ignition.

Superchargers

Finally, the SkyActiv X engine uses a supercharger to move enough air into the engine to keep up a high RPM. The SkyActiv X engine also uses a braking regeneration system to lighten the engine load. The excess braking energy is then stored in a capacitor, and that excess energy is then cycled into the headlights, radio, and other minor functions of the car.

If you want your vehicle to be as efficient as it can be, you should be using a SkyActiv X Engine.

Better For The Environment

Finally, the engine is much better for the environment, using a ‘well to wheel’ approach that helps to reduce carbon emissions and help to save the planet. The hybrid combustion approach not only gives the car more power, but also helps to improve fuel efficiency and reduce fuel emissions.

In summary, the Mazda SkyActiv X Engine is a great engine that can make any car it runs in much better for it. If you have the chance to grab a car with this engine in it, then do so, because you will not regret driving around with this engine under the hood.
