The USS Albacore Museum is a museum and park/visitor center with self-guided audio tours focusing on the history of the submarine. See, the USS Albacore was a research submarine designed by the Navy to test experimental features now used in today’s submarines. And you can walk through it all! American Independence Museum If you prefer your history a little older, and don’t mind traveling down the road to Exeter, the American Independence Museum is the place for you. Founded in 1991, the museum is the place to go to learn and celebrate American independence and how it came to be. Sites include the Ladd-Gilman House, Folsom Tavern, new exhibits such as ‘The Currency of Colonial America: The Struggle for Economic Independence’ and more, as well as a collection of thousands of items pertaining to the American Revolution including one of only 26 surviving Dunlap Broadside copies of the Declaration of Independence and early drafts of the U.S. Constitution. There’s also plenty of activities specifically for the kids. Children’s Museum of New Hampshire Speaking of kids, if you’re looking for something just for them, look no further than the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover.
